Silver Mountain Bike Park

Silver Mountain Bike Park is located in Kellogg Idaho, about 30 minutes east of Coeur d”Alene. This old mining town has now transformed into some great mountain biking. After mining for silver in this area things changed once everything closed down. In the 1990s they built a gondola from the town to the top of Kellogg Peak to take advantage of the skiing in the area. Since then they have added this wonderful bike park. The town doesn’t have much outside of this area for riding. I personally think the food is sub-par and the town is a bit run down.

Day tickets are $50 and that’s tough to beat. Each lap off the front is anywhere from 4-7 miles by the time you pedal back over to the gondola. With a variety of trails winding through the trees with steep technical sections and some good flow lines there’s something for everyone. I really like the options you can take going down. the first mile can be a green flow, then hop onto a back tech or blue flow and so on as you make your way down. Off the top there is one little lift that you can go down the west side and lap some of the more technical trails. They are rowdy and fun but be on your A game they are pretty spicy. Frankenbeans, El Burro Loco, Afternoon Delight, and Frog Trees were some of my favorite trails. In all honesty there wasn’t a trail here I didn’t like. The berms here get blown out fast but, they are built well so they hold the line and catch. This is one of my favorite bike parks in the U.S and its worth the trip.
